Call for papers

Per3S is a workshop that aims to bring together the French and Francophone community around the themes of storage system performance and scale-up. These themes therefore cover storage in the HPC world but also cloud-based architectures that are distinguished by their extreme "scalability".

The contributions expected in this field can be applicative, systems, or architectural.

The need for a better understanding of the performance of storage systems results from a twofold evolution directly related to technology and usage. The availability of new technologies such as NVMe and Storage Class Memories (SCM) is profoundly changing the orders of magnitude on which previous architectures were built. In the past, systems could be seen as three clearly identified components, each with its own order of magnitude: main memory - nanosecond, network - microsecond, secondary memory - millisecond. This hierarchy is undermined by these new media whose access times vary from a few microseconds to a few tenths of microseconds. The use of such media is evolving together, particularly under the influence of the Cloud.

This 6th edition of Per3S aims to bring together, during one day, researchers from the academic and industrial sectors, junior and senior to discuss these issues.

Contributions will be either expert presentations (by invitation) or presentations by young researchers (by abstract).

Per3S fully encourages young researchers to come and present their work by submitting an abstract. The abstract may relate to an original work or work already submitted and/or accepted at an international conference for discussion.

Authors of accepted abstracts will have the opportunity to make a presentation of 5 minutes with a poster.

The workshop will be held in the new building of the Institut Mine Telecom de Palaiseau on March 17, 2020.

Submission procedure

An abstract presenting the contribution or research theme of the young researchers of half a page is requested.

Abstracts of 500 words (max) must be submitted using the New Submission tab.

Communications and submissions may be made in either French or English.
